Removing the Shame of Under-Performance

Removing the Shame of Under-Performance
REMOVING THE SHAME OF UNDER-PERFORMANCE // It's easy to get started on your New Year's resolutions, but fall short of your goals within just weeks (or even days!) after you got started. But what if you could approach your goals or resolutions from a different perspective? *What if you saw yourself as not needing to be "fixed," but just in need of more productive habits? *What if you gave yourself credit for small gains and wins, instead of condemning yourself for losing? *What if instead of feeling guilty for not meeting the expectations you put on yourself, you felt strengthened to simply get up and try again? I believe all of these scenarios and more are possible if you learn how to remove the shame of under-performance. Paul writes in Galatians 5:1; "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." It sounds a little simplified, but essentially what Paul was saying was, "Jesus set you free, so you could be free! Don't LET yourself be burdened again...." Whenever we fail to perform to the best of our ability, we often feel condemned or burdened by shame. It's not Jesus who is making us feel guilty when we don't measure up, but we often allow our own negative emotions, and negative self-talk to convince us that we should punish ourselves, or feel bad about ourselves whenever we fail to complete what we told ourselves we would do. This is something Paul says we "let" happen to us. How? Because instead of accepting the freedom that Jesus purchased for us, we allow our damaging words to wreak havoc on our emotions, until we have become so self-abasing, we feel like just giving up. This is why Paul admonishes us to "stand firm..." When we get into scenarios in our mind, where we condemn ourselves for not measuring up, or allow our emotions to go to negative places, if instead beating ourselves up we could meditate on what Jesus saved us from, we would be free! And if you ever hope to walk in the freedom Jesus died for you to have, you must learn how to overcome and remove the shame associated with under-performing. Allow Jesus to set the standard for your life, and experience the grace he offers you to not only forgive your mistakes, but that can empower you to meet and exceed any expectation you could ever place on your life. Learn to stand firm in Jesus' freedom and you'll never let shame to weigh you down again. ________________________________________________________________ RESOURCES & LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO: STORE: "Good God; The One We Want To Believe in But Are Afraid to Embrace." Religion has painted a picture of God as one who has the power to stop tragedy, but for reasons too high for us to understand allows suffering in our lives to teach us a lesson. What if I told you none of that was true, and in fact, the Bible teaches us the complete opposite? Good God unpacks our misguided concepts of God so that we can begin to see Him as he truly is -- pure, loving, and completely good. If you've ever wondered if God is testing you -- or perhaps worse, punishing you, you are not alone. Most of us want to believe that God is good, but we cannot find a way to harmonize God's goodness with the evil that exists in this world. Good God introduces you to the God we all want to believe in, but have been too afraid to embrace. https://ift.tt/32NVw6i _______________ SAY "HI" ON SOCIAL: Facebook: https://ift.tt/3u02RvS Instagram: https://ift.tt/3sTOI1F Twitter: https://twitter.com/krissymiles Linked In: https://ift.tt/3viA4Tm
