What the struggle of stuttering is really all about: John Harrison & Broca Brothers
WHAT THE STRUGGLE OF STUTTERING IS REALLY ABOUT! Super proud of this one, an in depth (inter)view on stuttering and what the struggle to speak REALLY is about. If we want to fix our stutter we have to start seeing it as a whole system and not as a speech problem. Though fighting a cold John Harrison sat down to talk with us about stuttering. At the age of 25 he ran away from his home in New York all the way to San Fransisco where he got into all kinds of self-help groups and slowly but surely learned what his own stuttering was all about. We're talking about how speech is a reflection of who you are, that stuttering is a system, a problem of the 'whole person' and not a speech problem, that fun is a key ingredient to success, the power of positive experiences and being yourself. John's view on stuttering is liberating and changed everything around for us when we read the book Redefining Stuttering a couple of years ago. One of the core principles is that you have to come to life, emotionally. That you're holding yourself back from fully expressing yourself because you're scared to 'get hurt' emotionally and psychologically. Sit back and let the man himself tell you all about it. Enjoy and let us know what your thoughts are on this one.
