How to stop your cat from biting you

How to stop your cat from biting you
There are a number of reasons why your cat might be biting or scratching you - overzealous during play, boredom, frustration, petting aggression or he is simply asking you to stop doing something but you don't hear him. Here are our tips on how to stop your cat from biting and how to react if it happens: 1. Teach your cat to use paws and not claws or teeth during playtime. If your cat goes after you during playtime call a time out. Do this by turning your back to your cat. If your cat needs a stronger message - put your cat into a different room. This will help your cat make a connection between biting and the fun times ending. 2. Do not overstimulate your cat when stroking and petting. If your cat becomes overstimulated within 5 min - stop at 3min. In this situation your cat will give you warning signs such as dilated pupils or wagging tail. 3. Drain your cats energy by engaging in multiple playtime sessions during the day until you tire him out. A tired cat is a lot less likely to attack than a bored and frustrated one with a lot of misdirected energy. 4. React calmly if your cat bites or scratches you. Do not hit, shout, chase or loose temper with your cat. Instead, freeze and ignore your cat (act the opposite to prey object). Also, you can stand up and walk away in a dismissive fashion. This way the cat will receive your message. Relax My Cat are experts in creating relaxing music to help calm your cat and help them sleep.
