My Reaction: Jordan B Peterson Vs. Michael Eric Dyson MUNK Debate
The Munk Debates recently had a topic of “Political Correctness: Be It Resolved, What You Call Political Correctness, I Call Progress...”. It featured Michael Eric Dyson and Michelle Goldberg on the PRO political correctness side, Stephen Fry and Jordan B. Peterson on the CON side. The debate was professionally done and well put together but really boiled down to the ideological battle between Dyson and Peterson. No disrespect to Goldberg and Fry but I honestly believe the debate could have been had without the two of them unnecessarily taking up debate minutes. Michael Eric Dyson is an intellectual on the left that loves to use leftist rhetoric and usually victim hood narratives against others with a flurry of large words that most people down know. To some it deceives them into thinking that because he sounds so smart that he obvious must be knowledgable and have a clear grasp of the topic. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jordan B. Peterson is intellectual with conservative leanings who speaks to the common man using reason and logic. He believes that PC culture and victim mentality only furthers the divide and gets nowhere in regards to rational solutions. The debate came to a crucial point when Dyson called Peterson an “Angry white man”. It crystallized Petersons position that PC culture does not foster debate. Peterson made reasonable points that to Dyson are not worthy of tolerance due to the sole fact of him being white. To me, that was the point in which the debate was over. You have your destructive example of what the PC narrative does to progress...it kills it. The CON side of the debate won to the applause of the reasonable people.
