Truth will set you free | Jordan Peterson

Truth will set you free | Jordan Peterson
Dr. Peterson lays out a case here for the curative and redemptive power of truth, starting with the Christian conception of Logos, or the Word — universal Truth which human consciousness has the capacity to discover and express, thereby creating ordered being that is good. This transformation begins with the individual. Peterson then proceeds to present the therapeutic efficacy of applied truth from a clinical perspective. For the individual, Truth is not an abstract ideal. It's a virtuous system that, if continually refined and made real, can be liberating and life-affirming, but also stark and downright terrifying in its potential implications. Thus, it requires a bit of faith to not run away and cower and hide, but rather to let whatever comes forth from the forthright enactment of Truth be freely manifested in the world. In the broader culture, we've lost a sense of what it means to seek transcendent Truth. Like the Tzadik figure that Dr. Peterson alludes to (one who rediscovers what he lost in childhood while being fully awake), our challenge now is to rediscover a love of Logos while embracing the consciousness we've garnered through centuries of scientific and philosophical inquiry.
